From London to Moscow: PDP rep joins APC

While describing the attitude of some of Nigerian first republic politicians cross-carpeting from opposition to a ruling party, late sage, Chief Obafemi Awolowo simply says, “Some are traveling from London to Moscow in order to terrify Washington.”

Since Nigeria’s electoral body INEC released the time table for 2019 general Elections, politicians cross carpeting to the ruling party has heightened.

On Tuesday, January 23, 2018, another member of the House of Representatives from Ondo State, Akinfolarin Mayowa, dumped the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, for the All Progressives Congress, APC.

Mr. Mayowa, who represents Ileoluji-Okeibo/Odigbo federal constituency of Ondo State, in a letter read by the speaker, Yakubu Dogara, cited division in the party as his reason for defecting.

He said he had since December left the PDP and registered with the APC.

Mr. Mayowa’s defection is the first in the House in 2018 to be made public.

Over seven members dumped the opposition party in 2017 for the ruling APC.
