Governor Umahi re-appoints sacked council caretaker chairmen
The Ebonyi State Governor, David Umahi, re-appointed 12 out of the 13 Local Government Council Caretaker Chairmen earlier sacked on Wednesday.
The governor had dissolved the chairmen whose one year tenure expired in a statement signed by the Commissioner for Information, Emmanuel Onwe.
But in a radio announcement hours later, the council chairpersons were re-appointed, and urged to proceed for screening at the Ebonyi State House of Assembly.
All the council chairmen, excluding Chairman of Ikwo, Joseph Orogwu, were reportedly screened in the afternoon by the Assembly.
“Mr. Joseph Orogwu name was conspicuously missing in the list of nominees,” an online report says.
No reason was given by the state government for the omission neither was another name forwarded as his replacement.
“Apprehension has gripped cabinet members following reports of impending major cabinet reshuffle in which many of them are expected to be sacked,” premium Times reports Wednesday.
“The governor wants to begin the New Year with a new team as some of the commissioners have performed well below expectations,” said the source who did not want his identity revealed.
