Serving Nigerian senator sent to prison for money laundering

While moves are underway to convey Dino Melaye to Kogi to face trial, another Nigerian senator, Peter Nwaobosh, has been sent to Ikoyi prison.

Justice Mohammed Idris of the Federal High Court, Lagos, ruled that Mr. Nwaoboshi be remanded till Friday pending the hearing of the senator’s bail application.

Before his arraignment, the senator was kept in the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in Abuja.

He was arraigned by the EFCC on a two-count charge of money laundering.

Nwaoboshi represents Delta North on the platform of Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP.
