2017 Batch A Stream 1 POP: 4 Corps Members Honoured in Abuja

The 2017 Batch A Stream 1 corps members were elated today as they underwent their Passing Out Parade (POP) in all the states including the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

As usual, corps members who distinguished were honoured.

During the POP in FCT, four Corps Members that distinguished themselves with outstanding Community Development Service Projects received Honours Awards during a colourful passing-out ceremony held at FCT Orientation Camp, Kubwa.

The distinguished corps members are:

1) Ikpesu Ejiro Lucy – FCT/17A/2145
2) Akande Delayo Mercy – FCT/17A/0525
3) Ekeh Chimezie Obiora – FCT/17A/0340
4) Omajala Theophilus – FCT/17A/0580

The FCT Minister, Alhaji Mohammad Musa Bello, while congratulating them on the successful completion of their service year urged them to use their service year experiences to live exemplary lifestyles.

He commended them for executing different community development projects which has added value to their host communities. He said the projects would serve as lasting legacies.

The Minister was represented by the FCT Secretary for Education, Alhaji Senator Isah Maina, “the corps Members’ projects has greatly contributed to the development the Federal Capital Territory.”

“It is important for you to make up your mind and use those skills which you acquired during the service year to engage in something meaningful rather than roam the streets looking for non-existing paid jobs,” the Minister said.

The Chairman, NYSC FCT Governing Board, Alhaji Oladimeji Ali Hassan, said the board will continue to provide an enabling environment for Corps Members deployed to the FCT.

He also urged them to be good ambassadors of the NYSC Scheme.

The Director-General, Brigadier General Suleiman Kazaure was represented at the ceremony by the Director, Special Duties Department, Mr Hilary Nasamu.

Apart from these FCT corps members, who contributed to their immediate environment, other corps members across the country undertook different community projects, small and big.

Earlier, the management of the National Youth Service Corps congatulated the 2017 BATCH ‘A’ (STREAM ONE) corps members on passing out from national service.

In a communique, the Director-General, Brigadier General Suleiman Zakari Kazaure, was delighted that the passing out corps members performed exceptionally well.

The statement reads:

“The National Youth Service Corps no doubt, has been in the forefront of nation building, with particular emphasis on national integration and entrepreneurial development among graduate youths.

“Management is happy that the 2017 Batch ‘A’ Stream One Corps Members performed exceptionally in embracing the lofty initiatives of the Scheme’s Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development programme.”

They were charged to “fan into flame” the various skills they acquired in the course of service to become self-reliant and wealth creators.
