Part 1: Sign Up for luno account

Step 1:

Step 2:

Enter your email address and password

Step 3:

Login to your email to confirm it

Step 4:

Now that you’re in your luno backoffice, click on Settings to set up your personal details. This would enable your account to be upgraded and have access to all the services provided by luno. This is simply a verification stage.

Step 5:

Enter your phone number, a verification code would be sent to you, enter it and submit it. Alternatively, you can opt for Call Me option.

Step 6:

Move back to the personal details, on the same page as step 5, click on upgrade. On this step your Bank Verification Number (BVN for Nigeria) would be required. The process might be different in your country.

Upgrade means to raise your limit. When you perform this task your limit is raised from level 0 to level 1 and your limit is set at N200,000 (Nigerian Naira), depending on your country. To upgrade  from level 1 to another level you need additional means of identity.

 

 

Note (For Nigerian users):

Please make sure to use your name as it appears in your bank and BVN. If the name you enter doesn’t match with your BVN, your account won’t be verified and your level would be set at Level 0, meaning you won’t be able to perform anything on the luno platform.

If you complete the first upgrade luno sends you update on your dashboard thus:

“You have been upgraded to level 1.
You can now deposit money into your Luno wallet and buy Bitcoin!




The following limits apply to level 1.
Deposits over all time: NGN 200,000.00
Withdrawals over all time: NGN 200,000.00

We will let you know when you are close to your limits.”

Step 7:

This stage isn’t a must if you know your transaction won’t be more than level 1 which limit is N200, 000 in Nigeria. But if you’re planning on transacting bigger amount soonest, it’s better to upgrade to level 2. This requires you to submit photo/scan of government ID. Check out the verification level limit below

Part 2: How to Add Bitcoin Wallet To Your Luno Account

Step 8:

Click on Add Wallet, you might be prompted to automatically add Ethereum wallet don’t worry, go ahead to add it. You can then go back to click on Wallet in your dashboard, which now displays three options: BTC Wallet, ETH Wallet and NGN Wallet. Our aim is to add BTC wallet.

Step 9:

Click on BTC logo to get Bitcoin Wallet: Transactions, Addresses. Choose addresses

Step 10:

Click on create bitcoin address. If you like you can name your address because you have the opportunity to generate different btc address for different transaction.

You’re done!

It’s time to purchase BTC. Click on wallet again, under the BTC logo choose buy to make deposit. This takes us to the next part…

Part 3: How to Buy Bitcoin on Luno Using your Credit or Debit Card   

You’ve set up your luno account? The next step is to buy bitcoin with your debit or credit card and how to generate your BTC or Ethereum Wallet on luno.

Step 11:

Click on “Home” Please make sure your local bank account has been funded before you proceed to the steps below.

Step 12:

Click on buy bitcoin. Clicking on this will require you to deposit money, so click on deposit money, which enables you buy from your bank in Nigeria and other countries where luno services are available.

Step 13:

Click on Debit or Credit Card with PayU

Step 14:

Enter the amount you want to deposit and hit next.

Step 15:

To continue click on “Continue with PayU.” Enter your debit or credit card information. Small charges apply while funding your wallet via PayU, but the fee is fair to be honest with you.

Step 16:

This next step requires you to complete your online transactions either by receiving OTP via the  phone number linked to your bank account, or using your Banking Hardware Token.

Choose the method you wish to receive the OTP for this transaction and click submit

*Please note that OTP is only valid for one transaction, if you want to carry out another transaction, you will be required to generate another OTP.

If you don’t have the hardware, tick the option “Receive OTP via Phone Number.” Don’t forget to tick the terms and conditions box to receive the code. Enter the code and submit, less than five seconds your luno wallet account would be credited. Through your luno wallet you can specify the amount of bitcoin you want to buy. Completing this task, your BTC wallet would show your BTC balance.

Part 3: How to Fund your USI-TECH Wallet using luno

Now that you luno BTC wallet is funded, it’s time to transfer some BTC to your USITECH balance for you to buy Bitcoin package. If you’re just starting off make sure you login to your usitech account, check how much bitcoin you need to get the package you want.

Login to both websites on different windows

Note: To abide by the T&S of USI-TECH, I’m going to use limited photos  of  my USITECH’s backoffice.

In your USI-TECH backoffice, click on Package Options, and choose Place Order. Click on Purchase under the BTC Package, if it’s the Token you want, then choose it.

Choose the second option, “A BTC: The provider of your Choice” and tick the T&C box.

Step 19:

Copy USI-TECH wallet code and head straight to your luno dashboard

Note:

Check the Grand Total of package details to be sure that you have in your luno btc wallet balance the required amount. It’s advisable to have extra btc in your wallet to give room for the charges from luno.

Step 20:

Now in your luno dashboard, click on send, which gives you two options: What would you like to send? Bitcoin or Ethereum. Choose Bitcoin

Step 21:

Paste the USI-TECH wallet code you copied in step 19, enter the amount you want to send, click on next and confirm.

Caution: Copy the wallet code correctly, makes sure you don’t create space before and after the code.

Luno sends you a successful transaction message both in your backoffice and in your email. When USI-TECH receives the transfer too, you get a confirmation email and the amount transferred would be added to your wallet balance.

That’s all!  You just purchased your first BTC package on USI-TECH. Apart from buying BTC package, you can add btc to your balance any time following the same process.

Luno Account level requirements

There are different account levels, with deposit and withdrawal limits that apply to each level.

LEVEL REQUIREMENTS
Level 0 Confirm your email address or sign up with your social media profile
Level 1 Confirm mobile number and basic personal details
Level 2 Submit photo/scan of government-issued ID (accepted documents)
Level 3 Submit proof of residential address (accepted documents)

You may be required to submit proof of identity documentation to upgrade your Luno wallet. You should submit a clear photo or colour scan of one of the following documents, depending on your country.

You can submit it after signing in on the Luno website or via the Android or iOS applications.

How to verify your identity on luno?

If you don’t have a bank account (in these countries) or you just want to use Luno to send, receive and store Bitcoin, you don’t need to upgrade your account.

You can upgrade your account securely using the Android or iOS Luno Smart Wallet, or by visiting the SETTINGS page.
