UberCab introduces in-app chat between drivers and passenger

uber latest update

Drivers and passengers can now chat seamlessly right inside the UberCab App, thanks to the latest update from Uber Technologies, which keep evolving everyday.

The in-app chat feature works like OLX in-app chat where buyers and sellers keep their call cards for other things…they communicate right inside the app.

With Uber in-app chat, you just tap to send a short message to your ever-ready drivers to request a ride in more than 500 cities worldwide.

At the moment, there are two uber cities in Nigeria: the commercial capital of Nigeria, Lagos, and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.uber latest update

“Uber is a smartphone application that connects drivers to drivers in the area to solve the need to get a reliable ride from wherever you are to your destination.”

As Uber explains, “both riders and drivers will see whether their messages have been delivered and read, and all communication will be done in a driver-friendly way.”

The in-app Uber update is expected to roll out today after undergoing a whole lot of test and has been certified by its team of tech experts that it’ll indeed serve both the drivers and riders better.

Requesting your Uber is easy—here’s how it works:
– Just open the app and tell us where you’re going.
– The app uses your location so your driver knows where to pick you up.
– You’ll see your driver’s picture, vehicle details, and can track their arrival on the map.
– Payment can be made by credit card, cash in select cities, Android Pay, PayPal, and more.
– After the ride, you can rate your driver and provide feedback to help us improve the Uber experience. You’ll also get a receipt by email.

How Uber in-app Chat works?

Once you requested a ride, you will see the usual “Contact” button below the driver’s name.

Tap the contact to bring up a brand-new chatting window.

The in-app chat hasn’t truncated the calling feature, if you need to call the driver, the option is still there on the top right corner.

As Uber explains, both riders and drivers will see whether their messages have been delivered and read, and all communication will be done in a driver-friendly way:

“When drivers receive a chat from the rider, it will be read aloud to them. Drivers can acknowledge receipt with one tap to their app to send a “thumbs up” to their rider. That way, they can stay focused on the road.”

The new in-app also allows for an easy and direct way for drivers and riders to decide on a precise pickup location.

The Uber in-app messaging lets drivers and riders communicate with each other in a safe way even in places where voice and SMS plans aren’t readily available, explains Uber Product Manager Jeremy Lermitte.

To update your Uber App go to your App Store, search for ubercab, and tab on the UPDATE button. If the update it’s yet to come up, please check back later.

One day a car will drive itself and deliver a message for you…welcome to the world of technology!
