Following the suspension of Bayelsa State Chairman of the All Progressive Congress, Tiwei Orunimighe, security operatives from the Nigeria Police Force and the Department of State Services have taken over the state branch office APC to wade off impending chaos.
Mr. Tiwei was suspended with two other excos: his deputy, Eddy Julius; and the secretary of the party’s chapter in the state, Marlin Danlin, over alleged anti-party activities and gross misconduct
The National Working Committee of the APC, on Thursday evening, announced the suspension their suspension.
At the party’s secretariat on Yenagoa-Mbiama Road on Friday, riot policemen and DSS officials were seen “parading” the ares.
Some of the executives of the party loyal to a former governor of the state, Timipre Sylva, led by a factional chairman of the party in the state, Joseph Fafi, were at the secretariat.
The presence of Sylva’s loyalists attracted an angry outburst from an ex-militant leader and loyalist of the suspended chairman, Africanus Ukpariasa, also known as ‘General Africa’.
