Suspended Secretary to the Government of the Federation Mr. Babachir Lawal has been berated over the comment he made after the news of his suspension filtered in.
Babachir had asked, “Who is the presidency” when State House correspondents asked if he’s aware of his suspension by the presidency shortly after he met with Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.
National Chairman of National Conscience Party, NCP, Mr. Yinusa Tanko; Executive Director of the Civil Society Coalition Against Corruption, Mr. Olanrewaju Suraj; and a member of Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP, Mr. Ken Okolugbo unanimously submitted that Babachir’s comment showed total disregard to the presidency.
They spoke on Sunday Politics hosted by Seun Okinbaloye on Nigeria’s popular news station Channels TV.
“Babachir made a caricature of the office of the president by asking who is the presidency, ” Mr. Yinusa said.
On his part, Mr. Okolugbo said, “It’s derogatory to say who is the presidency.
He said he expected the former SGF to have resign the day such heavy allegation of corruption was leveled against him.
“The pressure mounted on the presidency made President Buhari sacked the SGF. He should have been suspended long before now. ”

The Chairman of NCP, Yinusa, commended the anti corruption crusade of the President Muhammadu Buhari, but said, “The president should convince Nigerians that he’s not selective when it comes to prosecutions. ”
Mr Babachir was suspended for corruption allegations which has been termed, “Grass cutting scandal “among Nigerians.
