Solve NPVN issues here: Exclusive for N-Power Volunteer Networks

Since the list of the 200, 000 successful applicants was released, those who made the first batch have been asking questions.

The questions cut across:

  • N-Power programme
  • Selection process
  • Remuneration
  • N-Power duration of programmes
  • Deployment and redeployment question
  • Who is N-Power focal person?

This article shall address some of the questions we encountered in our earlier post on how N-Power successful applicants can login to npvn portal to update their bank account and other details, and some of the NPVN questions that have been answered by the N-Power team.

What is N-Power?

N-Power is a job creation and empowerment initiative designed to help young Nigerians acquire and develop life-long skills to become solution providers in their communities and to become players in the domestic and global markets. There are 3 programmes under N-Power.

  1. N-Power Teacher Corps Programme
  2. N-Power Knowledge Programme
  3. N-Power Build Programme

N-Power selection process

How many applicants were selected?

The first phase of the N-Power Volunteer Corps Programme (NPVC) begins with 200,000.

The initial phase of NPVC has been sub-divided as follows:

  1. N-Power Teach/ Community – 150,000
  2. N-Power Agro – 30,000
  3. N-Power Health – 20,000

According to N-Power, the programme would be implemented in phases.

The other 300,000 will constitute the Second phase.

How applicants selected for the N-Power Teach & Community Education programmes.

Selection was done in a fair and transparent manner as applicants were assessed on their basic knowledge of English, general knowledge, quantitative reasoning, as well as other education-specific questions.

Special consideration was given to North-Eastern states to mitigate the adverse socio-economic circumstances in the North East.

Other factors that were taken into consideration include gender and disability.

How were applicants selected for the N-Power Agro programme?

Selection was done in a fair and transparent manner.

Selection was based on 40% of all the applications received from each state.

Applicants were assessed on their basic knowledge of English, general knowledge, quantitative reasoning, as well as other agriculture-specific questions.

The Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (FMARD) also apportioned about 7,000 of those selected across each state to promote self sufficiency targets in the agriculture value chain.

Other factors that were taken into consideration include gender and disability.

I was not selected, is there another list?

For those who didn’t make the first batch of 200, 000, there is a waiting list (second batch of 300, 000) and subsequent phase(s) which will absorb more qualified applicants.

Why do some states have more selected applicants than others?

40% of all applicants were selected in all the states for the N-Power Teach, Community and Agro programmes.

While under the N-Power Agro programme, 50% of the applicants were selected in all states.

Also, north-eastern states and states that had low numbers were given special consideration.

How were applicants selected for the N-Power Health programme?

Selection was done in a fair and transparent manner as applicants were assessed on their basic knowledge of English, general knowledge, quantitative reasoning, as well as other health-specific questions.

Other factors that were taken into consideration include gender and disability.

How would I know the status of my application?

You can check the N-Power website (www.npower.gov.ng), the N-Power Facebook page, or if possible, contact your respective State Focal Persons.

Who are the Npower State Focal Persons?

State Focal Persons are N-Power commissioned officials who are responsible for deploying successful volunteers to their primary places of assignment.

N-Power Remuneration

What’s the basic monthly salary of successful npower applicant?

Each successful applicant shall be entitled to a monthly stipends of N30,000.

When will payment start?

According to the statement released by the Special Adviser to the Vice President on Media, Mr. Laolu Akande, successful Npower applicant shall be paid beginning from December, 2016.

Apart from the monthly stipends, what are the other benefits of N-Power programme?

Other benefits of N-Power for the N-Power Teach, Health and Agro are:

  1. A Computing Device that will contain information necessary for the specific engagement
  2. Entrepreneurial and Employability skills
  3. National Skills Qualification Certificate

N-Power deployment and redeployment question

I was posted to my previous location and now I have relocated. Can I be redeployed to my current location?

Yes you can be redeployed. However, you will begin the programme in the next phase of deployment.

Please note that this does not affect your status as a selected N-Power Volunteer Corps member. To effect your redeployment, check out this guide.

All successful volunteers are encouraged to provide accurate information during their verification process.

Applicants who have provided or intend to provide false information will be disqualified and sanctions will be meted out.

What can I do to prepare for deployment?

All successful NPVC members are able to gain access to content for learning employability skills such as critical thinking and communication.

Specific Information regarding training and induction will be provided in the subsequent days

How would I know my primary place of assignment?

The primary places of assignment will be primary schools, primary health care centres and State Agriculture Development Project (ADPs) within the Local Government Centres.

State Focal Persons are responsible for deploying successful volunteers to their primary places of assignment from Monday, 21st of November 2016.

I was selected, what do I do now?

The engagement date for all successful N-Power Volunteer Corps members will be December 1st 2016.

From Monday, November 21st 2016, all successful applicants are required to go to http://npvn.npower.gov.ng where they are expected to log in to their personal NPVC accounts and update their bank account information as may be required.

Successful applicants must provide valid bank account information for the purposes of payment of monthly stipends.

Information regarding deployment will also be accessible on the N-Power web portal as soon as the States indicate the primary places of assignment of each successful NPVC member.

What happens to people that registered for N-Power Knowledge/ N-Power Build?

Information regarding selection of applicants into the N-Power Knowledge and N-Power Build programmes will be provided in the coming weeks.

N-Power duration of programmes

How long is the N-Power Teacher Corps Programme for?

The N-Power Teacher Corps (comprising of Teach, Community, Health, and Agro) is a paid volunteering programme of a 2 year duration for 500,000 unemployed Nigerian graduates.

How long is the N-Power Knowledge Programme for?

N-Power Knowledge is a 3 month training to jobs initiative that will engage 25,000 young unemployed Nigerians.

Benefits of N-Power Knowledge?

  1. A Computing Device that will contain information necessary for the specific engagement
  2. Entrepreneurial and Employability skills
  3. National Skills Qualification Certificate
  4. International Industry Grade Certificate

How long is the N-Power Build Programme for?

N-Power Build is a 3 months accelerated training and certification (Skills to Job) that will engage 75,000 young employed Nigerians.

  1. A Toolbox Kit
  2. Entrepreneurial and Employability skills
  3. National Skills Qualification Certificate

    All attempt to change password proved abortive.

      Alternatively, when verification begins with the full evidence that you made the first list issues like this should be entertained.

      We’ve got series of complaints from Kwara, Lagos and some parts of Ogun that they’re unable to update their accounts.

      • Sir,am so confused now.From the npvn portal,it shows no npower volunteer has been deployed to their place of primary assignment but in the npower facebook page,most volunteers are claiming they have been deployed and are doing their physical verification now in States like Abia,Lagos .How true is this?

        • Abuja is still trying to sort out the issue of State Focal Officers who will be responsible for posting of applicants.

          Please keep checking at your LG of residence you filled during registration.

          PPA will definitely appear on your portal when verification is completed for documentation
